#177 Consolidating the knowledge (3. Religion vs spirituality, being humble, self-education)

On my ongoing journey towards Personal Development Mastery, I have decided to change the format of Thursday's episodes. So instead of adding more knowledge, I will be revisiting the previous episodes and consolidating the wisdom imparted by my guests.

In this episode, I revisit episodes #010 (Lampros Ioannou) and #012 (Cameron Arsenault). I hope you find the approach useful.

Welcome to Episode 177, of personal development mastery podcast. And today's the third time that I will do this episode of consolidating the knowledge that I've started doing. I've done twice so far. And in terms of giving you some context about this, I will share again that something that I realised after having spoken with over 100 people now on my podcast is that during those conversations, there were many actionable ideas, implementable knowledge, things that they were said that when I heard them, I thought, I can certainly implement this. However, I realised that many of those ideas remained just that ideas. I never took action on them and allow them to to change me. And of course, over time, they were forgotten. So in this consolidation episodes, I am revisiting some of the previous podcast episodes and picking specific actionable items and key knowledge that can be used from each of them. So if it is something that you hear and it resonates, you can just pick it up and start implementing it. So today, I will revisit episodes 10 and 12. Episode 10 was Lampros Ioannou, who a holistic life and business coach and to the national speaker based in Cyprus. I met Lambros while we were both serving as crew members at the Tony Robbins event. And during our podcast conversation, I asked him why he cruise for her Tony Robbins and I remember his response because he became emotional and he told me that he old show moths to Tony Robbins because when he went to the UPW event the first time it woke him up and made him realise how powerful he was. So he started growing because he wanted to give back to Tony and help Tony Robbins to help more people. So one of the things that they discussed with Lambros was what he does Holistic Life Coaching and when I asked him about it, he said that, as human beings, we have three aspects mind, body and soul. And all these are connected with spirit source, energy, God or whatever it is that one wants to describe this. And most of the coaching that happens nowadays. So the conventional coaching is mostly focused on emotions, or on the mind. However, holistic coaching works from all three levels, mind, body and soul. And remember, he used the phrase about practically training your mind and body and connecting with your soul by starting to know your true self. There was another thing that we discussed and that was the connection between personal development and spirituality and also spirituality compared in a way to religion. And I will put a small audio clip of Lambros here talking about this, I found his answers. Very fascinating.

Spirituality is about freedom. Spirituality is about being authentic, being your true self. Spirituality, there is a there is a saying that I agree so much with it. religion tells you that truth. Spirituality lets you find your own truth. So if I had to sum it up, this is it is like there is nothing wrong or right. It's just about finding your own truth. Finding your own self understanding yourself better and have the freedom basically Not having the freedom, allowing yourself to have the freedom to express this authenticity. Either we wanted or not. Religion separates spirituality with this concept I with this concept I just mentioned, is connecting us we all want at the end of the day, we're all human beings. Religion, what says like this is a truth and you're Muslim, you're you're Christian, you're you're Buddhist, at the end of the day, either we want it or not, it does create a form of separation. And separation is the worst thing it can happen to any human being the reason why we're here today with this situation and how life is and all of the challenges we're facing is mostly about separation. People get into depression and do all kinds of crazy stuff, just because they feel disconnected with everybody else.

One of the things that we briefly discussed was NLP neuro linguistic programming. And I asked him how it helped his life. And he gave me an answer I remember, because he said that the tools that he gained from NLP allowed him first to change on himself and then on his clients to change the story in in their head. And this phrase, changing the story, inside our head, the story in our head, the story that we say, or we tell ourselves inside our head, is a concept that I find fascinating, and I would give it some contemplation. When I asked Lambros, about what personal development means to him, he said that it's about self knowledge about getting to understand how to grow and be more happy and successful. And he mentioned something that Deepak Chopra, said, he said that, if he realised at some point that his child was not good at maths, but he was good at tennis, he would probably hire a tennis coach, not a mask, a coach, and this shows how important it is to try to improve your strengths rather than trying to improve your weakness. Actually try to work on improving your strength on what comes natural to you. And one last important point of the conversation was an aha moment that he shared with me. That was when he realised that he was too humble. And he said that, of course, humbleness is good. However, if you are overly humble, there is a there is a fine line that you cross because at the end of the day, when you talk about your achievements about what you did, and how you help people, that's going to help more people. So yes, you can be humble, but at the same time, you can say I did this, I did that in a humble way, not in an arrogant or egoistic way. Because on the other side, if you're too humble and not saying anything about yourself, you can't help anyone else. The second episode I'm going to discuss about today is number 12. With Cameron Arsenault. Cameron is a marketing and business consultant who helps entrepreneurs get their business known to the world. He told me something intriguing about his own story that while he was in university studying engineering, he read the book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and that really opened up the world of personal development for him. And it impacted him so much that once he finished university instead full of working on a career in engineering, he became he became an entrepreneur and started the startup. instead. Cameron talked about the skills that he needed to learn in order to be successful as an entrepreneur, and most important skills, sales and marketing. And the big thing for him was pushing himself out of the comfort zone to actually do face to face marketing face to face sales. Because he realised that this phrase that they say sometimes that if you build it they will come is unfortunately not how it works. One other important topic that we discussed was the concept of marketing as a way to make an impact. And he said, that's essentially what marketing is being able to tell a really good story that engages your prospects and gets them to want to do business with you. And when you are actually making an impact as well, you can use this impact element in your story. And you are able to tell a much better story that's going to help you engage right with your future prospects.

10:47
So he was talking about them, putting the message of impact into your marketing message, which allows the business or the intrapreneur, to build a really good story around the business. And here's come on talking about this topic.

11:08
Kind of the mission that I think we kind of covered this already pretty well. But really the big thing that I want to kind of help people with, and the biggest thing that I hope people take away from this is where you have a business, and you need to make a profit and be really prosperous in that way. But I think there's also the impact side of things, right, where you can use your business as a platform to make an impact on I say, whatever it is that you're passionate about, whether it's health people in your community, whether it's, you know, feeding hungry people, whether it's making an impact on the environment, whether it's giving people access to clean water around the world, like whatever your passion is, there's a way that you can integrate that into your business. And not It's not effect, it's not a matter of either or it's a matter of having both and it actually makes you more successful to have both? Well, that's the big question that I want to try to get across to people is that you, you can have both, you should have both, you'll actually be more successful. If you have both your purpose and your profit put together.

12:15
One of the things that we discussed was self education and the importance of investing in ourselves. And he said that our self education or our personal development is one of the few things that you can pay for that can't be taken away from you. And he talked about having this kind of student mindset. This student mentality of being in a continual learning process, always wanting to learn more and improve and get better. And he said, this is really one of the biggest skills that one can have as an entrepreneur. There are books that are podcasts that are online trainings, YouTube videos, there is so much information so there is no excuse for not learning. So these were my reflections and some actionable items that I acquired from this conversations. Again, to the reiterate, the purpose of me doing this consolidating episodes on Thursdays is to convert knowledge into action. Repetition is the mother of skill and execution is the ultimate power. Show knowledge is not enough. But knowledge converted into action can literally cause a transformation. I hope you found this episode useful. And I'm looking forward to your feedback. So you can go to my website, AGIKERAMIDAS.COM and send me a message through there. Thank you very much for listening. And until next time, standout don't fit in
