#211 Consolidating the knowledge: How to Visualise and how long it takes until Manifestation.

On my ongoing podcast journey, I now focus on consolidation on Thursday's episodes. Repetition is the mother of all learning, they say. So instead of adding more knowledge, I revisit the previous episodes and consolidate the wisdom imparted by my guests.⁣

⁣In today’s episode I cover the topics of visualisation and manifestation. You probably know about the importance of visualising, of this mental rehearsal in the “theatre of the mind.”

I revisit 6 of the previous episodes and share the wisdom of my guests Alexander Keehnen (#053), Aaron Timms (#059), Andrew Kapp (#067), Tamara von Dohren (#077), Liam Ryan (#083), and EB Sanders (#093).

Welcome to Personal Development mastery podcast where you will find both the inspiration to grow and the actions to implement towards your next level. I am your host Agi Keramidas. And I've been on a journey of personal development and self mastery for six years now. And my mission is to inspire you to stand out and take action towards living your best life. In this podcast, I invite myself inside the minds of authors, thought leaders, entrepreneurs, exceptional people who will inspire you to improve your life and also give you actions you can take and implement. So on my ongoing journey of the podcast on Thursdays episodes are now focused on consolidation. Repetition is the mother of all learning, as they say. So instead of adding more knowledge, I revisit the previous episodes and consolidate the wisdom imparted by my guests.

In today's episode, we will cover the topics of visualisation and manifestation. You have probably heard by now about the importance of visualising what we want of this mental rehearsal in the theatre of the mind. See it in your mind they say you will hold it in your hand. I will revisit six of the previous episodes and I will aim to distil the wisdom of my guests and share it with you and my intention is for you to find something that clicks something that inspires you to take some action as a result. So my six guests we will listen to today are Alexander Keehnen, Aaron Timms, Andrew Kapp, Tamara von Dohren, Liam Ryan and EB Sanders. And the first one we will listen from is Alexander Keehnen, who was originally featured on episode 53. Alexander Keenan is one of the cofounders of Gaia net, a connection platform facilitating the global movement of growing the roots of a new earth. I actually did an extensive podcast feature about Gaianet, which you can listen to in Episode 160. In our conversation, Alexander discussed leveraging the true power of your mind by using the visualisation muscle. And he was specifically discussing entrepreneurship however, the principle he describes can be applied to anything you want.

Alexander Keehnen  3:06
There's many elements I can I can pick here, but the one I like to emphasise and this comes really from my efficiency backgrounds is the most successful entrepreneurs have learned to leverage the true power of their minds. Any business is built in your mind first, and then with your hands. So how often do you practice your visualisation muscle? How often do you sit down? Ask yourself one carefully chosen strategic question, meditate, and wait until your Higher Self gives you the answer. One great idea can save you a year of work. So which habits did you put in place to have those genius ideas? Forward Thinking is what I would call that skill. Anybody becoming an entrepreneur needs to be able to have a strong intention of what he or she wants to create, and the ability to think of the best strategic next step. You don't need the full plan. You just need to know the direction you're going and the best next step. Take that step, stop, reflect do the whole thing over another step. Now you start to move forward with big leaps. Instead of muddling through or rowing against the stream.

Agi Keramidas  4:36
The next question we will listen to is our own teams who was featured in Episode 59. Our own is a self healing mentor, a best selling author and a firm believer in the power of our mind having accomplished something extraordinary himself which was going After an accident that he had from the diagnosis of being a paraplegic and prognosis of spending his whole life in the wheelchair, he went from that to a complete healing of both his body and his mind. Let's listen to our own, talking about how he used the power of his mind, visualising and affirming his beliefs that he would heal while he was at the hospital.

Aaron Timms  5:34
And why I would do is I would wear myself down to the physio gym, every single day in my wheelchair, and they there were exercise bikes in there, not not like the ones you see at the gym. These ones were designed for paraplegics, where you sit down and you're more your back and your legs are more in front of you rather than below you. And they're strapped so you can strap your legs in, strap your feet in and you construct your knees in because with your legs not work and they literally fall off the bike. So it's designed for that and what it does is electric and the motor turns the pedals for you. And there's a digital reading above it and it measures the resistance and or if your legs are putting any input in and things like that. And what I did is every single day as I was on the bike, I would close my eyes. And I would picture myself in the Tour de France, I would close my eyes and I would picture myself going through the mountains in France and I would I would smell the air and pitch are my legs below me working hard and I would feel the feel the ache in in them and feel the sweat running down my face and, and I did this every day and I really got in the moment and and that's really important for anyone out there that wants to do visualisations practice and practice. So you get in the moment, go beyond a daydream get in the moment and really feel it because that's when the belief starts to kick in. We're tricking the brain, it doesn't know the difference between between reality and non reality. So whatever reality you create, create for it. That is reality. So this is what I did every single day. And I would get really good at it. I practised it. So I would go into the gym and I would get on the bike and I would shut my eyes and I would do this and in my mind, I was fit and I was healthy and I was on the Tour de France and I was winning the Tour de France.

Agi Keramidas  7:29
It is incredible how powerful our mind is when we visualise when we hold the image of what we want inside our mind. And we leave it we experience it. The next person who listened to is Tamara Van Doren, who was originally featured on episode 77. Tamara has an incredible story of drive resilience and navigating cultural complexity across four continents. And we will listen to her talking about the power of visualisation and how to harness it.

Tamara von Dohren  8:18
That particular experience in LA was really a game changer of me going maybe this manifestation thing is for real, like maybe there is something to this, because the the process that I went through was, so I'm a very visual person, like I love watching movies, I published a book when I was living in Canada, and Creative Writing was actually my major at university. So I'm always kind of like, like, even when I have to have a difficult conversation with someone I will literally visualise it and roleplay it in my mind. So it's yeah, it's it's a process for me that I use with a lot of things that I will literally like, I might zone out or I might be like, as when I wake up in the morning, I might take a few moments. It's like a little movie plays on in my head, where I picture what will happen I feel like it's happening and you know, it's it's real for me in that moment. And that I think is the key thing and you whenever you do research around manifestation or anything like that, that is something that comes up. Another another technique I use is journaling, as well. So, like I will journal about what what I'm really focusing on what my goals are and what my commitment is to that and write about it. Sometimes I'll even write like a future diary entry for future journal entry for like a few months time as if it's happened. Yeah, and I'll write it out like that. But with La particularly it was that visualisation of in moments like maybe even like a couple minutes in between a break or something at work. where I would be thinking about the trip and like, yeah, again, kind of daydreaming is kind of the closest thing you could I could describe it as but yeah, really imagining what could happen in LA and how it would happen and how it would feel that feeling part I think is a real Yeah. A real important part of it. Yeah.

Agi Keramidas  10:19
Why not other thing that Tamara discussed was that lag time between visualisation and the actual manifestation of what we want. And I find this fascinating.

Tamara von Dohren  10:36
There are some things that I will think about, and they will manifest the next day or a couple of weeks later, there are other things that I have been trying to manifest for a while, that still haven't quite got there. And the I think the conclusion I guess I kind of came to is that the key to manifestation is, from my experience anyways, is having that clear vision of what you want or what you desire, and then letting go of the expectation of when it happens. So trusting that every the universe, whatever you want to call it, the things will manoeuvre in the way to bring that to you. And I guess some things take a little bit longer, some of those, those moves take a little bit longer, like a game of chess, or any game of strategy, when you're moving pieces around. Some things you can make happen in a second. And other things take a little bit more kind of maybe five to 10 moves to kind of get the pieces in place to kind of take the king or whatever. So, yes, it's the same thing in manifestation of just keep trusting and keep visualising that Yeah.

Agi Keramidas  11:50
The next person we will listen from is Andrew Karp, who was on episode 67. Andrew is the author of the number one Amazon best selling book, the last law of attraction book you'll ever need to read. And my conversation with him on episode 67 is continuously one of the top three most downloaded episodes of the podcast, so make sure you check it out if you have missed it. The first part will I have selected out of that incredible conversation I have selected two clips to present shortly in these episodes today. And the first one is a visualisation method that Andrew calls 10 minutes ago.

Andrew Kapp  12:56
We'll talk about a visualisation one. This one I call it the 10 minutes ago method. And this goes down to the reminder that sometimes people think they have to feel the thing perfectly. Like I have to feel what it's like to win the lottery. Otherwise, how's it going to happen, I have to feel what it's like to be in that house, I have to feel what it's like to whatever it might be. The 10 minutes ago method is basically you visualising yourself as if you've got the news of that of what you wanted 10 minutes ago, or it could be 20 minutes or whatever your brain rationalises. And the key about this is like if I win the lottery, well, there's, you know, obviously I'm going to be really excited, but there's no telling how much I will or will not have calmed down 10 minutes later, which is another way of saying I have permission to feel any emotion at all, as I'm visualising this without batching it because we always worry about batching it. So by putting yourself in the visualisation of your 10 minutes in the future of getting what you want, you can visualise it easier with less pressure on yourself. So what are you doing 10 months from now? Are you calling your family? Are you bragging about it on Facebook? Are you telling people not to tell it on Facebook because you don't want people coming up to your money? Like what what are the vivid real life experience details that match your personality that mirror who you are that you will be doing and saying and reacting? That's kind of thing and you can do this for 90 seconds or five minutes or 10 minutes just sit down and visualise yourself 10 minutes in the future of having whatever news that you want to come in your way.

Agi Keramidas  14:23
And we will listen to Andrew again talking about what to do if you have difficulties visualising how you can face this.

Andrew Kapp  14:35
If I'm having trouble with visualisation, most likely because my ego is telling me I'm having trouble visualisation because the ego is freaking out and doesn't want things to change. I'm like, You know what, I'm gonna play your game. That's fine. And instead of even trying to visualise instead of trying to do the gratitude method, I'm going to do scripting. And again, scripting is really just writing about your life as if you've already living your dream life. And sometimes you can mix in details of what is really in your life already along with the future stuff, all in the present tense. And here's the thing, even if you don't feel good, if you're writing about if you're putting down the details, pen to paper or just typing it, there is no denying that you are accessing a part of your mind that's telling you this is true. I mean, Olympic athletes visualise themselves winning the gold medal and running through the event before they win the gold medal because the subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between perceived reality and physical reality. I mean, and by the way, we're looking for science before I mean, Olympic athletes doing something that tells you a lot and you do research into military military has done a lot in terms of like the human the study of the human mind and visualisation where it goes. So for me, if I'm having trouble visualising I don't even care about that I'm literally going to script instead every day. And it could be a half a page, it could be three pages, it could be whatever I want. And I don't even realise that it really is, even if I don't feel anything fervently. I like it's automatically accessing my subconscious mind, which is automatically reaching out to the universe for me, because the images are in my head. Even if I don't see them in my head, the fact that I have to write it down, something is happening, it's impossible for it to not be happening even if it's not happening in your conscious perception.

Agi Keramidas  16:13
We will listen next to a clip by my guest, Liam Ryan, who was featured in Episode 83. Liam is an entrepreneur, public speaker, a property investor and mentor, and an author. He talked about the power of visualisation and he described a technique called vivid vision. So let's listen to him describe it.

Liam Ryan  16:44
Every single person can dream big. Every single person can get a pen and paper, and they can literally write down what they want the next chapter in their life to look like. And I truly believe that if you visualise it, meditate around it, write it down. Have a vision board, tell people about your vision, walk, talk act as though you're already in that place. Now, of course, you've got to take the action and you've got to take steps and you have to roll your sleeves up. But I truly believe visualisation is show important and it might not come as quick as you want it to come. But it will come at some point in the future. And visualisation is just one part of success. But it is an essential part. I believe it's very important and you know, I visualised, fantasise a lot, you know, I've got a good life. I've got an amazing business, a beautiful family. But I still visualise what we're going to be in five years, six years, I actually do something called the vivid vision, me and my business partner, Jay, do it. And once or twice a year we go away, we'll go somewhere nice. We'll turn our phones our laptops off, and we'll get with nature. And what we will do for two or three days is collectively we will do vision work. And we will plan what our company looks like every three years, down to what car we're driving, how many teams we have, how does the office look? What's on the wall, what departments we've got, what are the products we're selling, and we will get really deep in as much detail as possible to how our life and our business is going to work. And the vision seems to be coming true. Because we're driving towards that right? And we visualise it.

Agi Keramidas  18:48
And the last of my podcast guests that we will listen from today is a besonders who was featured on episode 93. EB is a speaker and the coach and let's listen to her talk about the mental space to visualise the future you

EB Sanders  19:17
is really taking a moment to separate myself whatever that means. If it means I need to leave the home if it means I find a quiet space, allowing myself the mental space to visualise sort of future me like two years down the road, not five not 10 not 20 something in a world where I can truly understand visualising myself two years from the moment and just visually what I'm doing what I'm seeing smelling touching. What is it that I'm planning on doing with my day? It down to any everything from like, what time is my alarm clock going off to what am I doing with you know, maybe it's a paycheck that I'm cashing really just allowing myself to visualise myself two years from this moment, what's really going on with all of your senses, all of the senses that you you know, possess your taste, touch smell. And then asking myself, okay, future me to your future me is, is waiting for me? What do I need to do to get there? And who do I want to be when I meet her? And it being myself and not another expectation, not of oh, well, in my business, I want to make X amount of dollars, because this entrepreneurial guru told me that's what success will be in two years. No, no, it's me, what do I want to do for myself to meet me at that space at that time, and nine times out of 10. And I do this fairly frequently to check in to make sure it's still, you know, the compass is still aiming in the same direction. It's the reason I'm doing anything in that visualisation. It's always coming down to the same things. And for me, they tend to be about family, about happiness and health, and about fun and ease, allowing myself to, you know, do things with a sense of fun and ease and curiosity and enjoyment and play. And they look a little different each time. But once I know those core reasons, I'm doing anything, I can then work back and say, Okay, why do I want those things? Who am I now in that two year version? for me? And again, it doesn't. And that's how I know they're, they're like my pillars because it doesn't seem to change for me. But yeah, I have I have clients go through this visualisation. Once they realise, oh, it's, it's just a future version of me that I'm working towards, they realise that they can let go of so many other people's expectations, there's no one else waiting for them at that mark. It is just themselves. And I found this to be a really powerful tool.

Agi Keramidas  21:58
